“To move, to breathe, to fly, to float,
To gain all while you give,
To roam the roads of lands remote,
To travel is to live.”
 Hans Christian Andersen

While we were in Budapest, my husband and I decided to go on a day trip tour to Szentendre (St Andrews), which is about 40 minutes away. The place is so cute and pretty with all the colourful lampshades and umbrellas displayed on the streets. (I would really highly recommend this for a short day trip.)

Szentendre is a Hungarian town on the Danube River.

It is basically a small town but there are so many things to see and do. It’s known for its baroque architecture, churches, restaurants, shops selling Hungarian authentic crafts, colorful houses, museums and narrow, cobble stone streets.

This is the main square called Fő Tér.

The alleyways around it are lined with art galleries and museums that’s why some call it ‘the Artist town’. The photo below shows an illustration of two Hungarian painters.

But aside from art Szentendre also has a marzipan museum and a wine museum. How do you like that?

Some crafts and street art along the way.

Had lunch at Rab Raby Etterem restaurant with a quirky setting. Had a cooking demonstration for an authentic Hungarian goulash and we also had for our lunch. It was very delicious and hearty.

St Peter and Paul church is a Baroque style church which originally was a Serbian Orthodox church. In the 1940s this building was renovated and is now used by the Catholic community.

Passed Another square with colourful banners and narrow steps in between buildings.

The Annunciation Church or Blagovestenska Church is a Serbian Orthodox church.

This is the Preobrazenszka templom, an Orthodox church in Szentendre

Love this place. Maybe you can add this to your itinerary when you plan your next trip.
